I had been hearing about the super bloom out in the desert for a while. Because of all the rain we've had over the winter, the flowers went crazy! So I decided to pack up my camera and my kids to see what all the fuss was about since it's only an hour and a half from where I live. SO glad I did! The bloom was winding down and wasn't as amazing as it was a couple weeks ago, but it was still well worth the drive! Here are some pictures.
Here is my oldest daughter sketching! She takes after me ;)
I felt inspired to paint when I got back home so I did a painting from this scene the next day:
Here is the painting:
"Desert Blooms #1" 8x10"
I'm very happy with how it turned out, but it's still not good enough. I can't put my finger on why though. It will come to me with time. I spent a couple days fooling with it and made some really great adjustments instead of busting it out and calling it done on the spot.
